A Statement from Tim Scheve, Janney President and CEO
A number of years ago, I signed the CEO Action Pledge for Diversity and Inclusion, and Janney began its more focused investment in the Firm’s diversity and inclusion efforts for our employees, clients, and communities.
While we have started efforts to improve diversity and inclusion at Janney, we join the chorus of voices throughout the world, declaring that we promise to do better. To listen. To reflect. To do more. To make a meaningful difference within the Black and African American communities. To take actions that lead to positive, sustainable results. To be accountable for the change we want to see in the world.
And while we don’t yet have all the answers, we realize how important it is to make our beliefs and intentions clear. We recognize that the roots of the problem are deep. We also recognize the urgency to act and inspire hope. It is clear that things need to change.
With this in mind, Janney’s leadership team pledges to:
- Invest more in our talent mechanisms and resources to recruit, retain, develop, and promote Black teammates
- Invest in the Black community through continued financial contributions, volunteerism, and diversifying our vendor and supplier partnerships to Black and minority-owned businesses
- Listen, engage, and educate more actively and regularly with our Black and diverse teammates to hear what progress is being made and where we still need to improve
These pledges are just the
start. Messages about the importance of solving problems are just messages. Actions that address issues are how we achieve change. We are the sum of our actions, not our words.
I commit to doing this work alongside the leadership team at Janney to make our Firm more inclusive, and thus, a stronger and better firm for our team members, our clients, and our communities.
